WHFS Top 99.1 of 1991

This version WHFS Top 99.1 of 1991 aired on January 11, 1992. The first airing, which happened on New Year's Day, drew a strong response with many requests for a repeat performance, which aired beginning at 9:00 AM.

Three announcers teamed up to present the program. Liz kicked it off and presented the first hour or so, counting down into the low 80s. Scott Cool (the guy with the phony made-up radio name) carried it on, down to number 19, and then handed things over to Dave Marsh, who finished out the countdown and carried the program through the 7:00 Hour, at which point the tape ends, just as Neci has announced the Reggae Splashdown. It's too bad I didn't load a third tape that day ....

If you enjoy this program, please post a comment with your nickname ... think if it as signing a guest book. Thanks!

  1. John,
What can I say?! This is looking good! I have only sampled one file so far and sounds excellent! Great foresight of you to tape these on a VHS HI-FI tape...I'll be back later after I get a chance to give them a good listen......again nice work!!!!

  2. Just wanted to let you know how great this is. Felt a jolt of joy every time I heard a song I loved back in the 90's but had completely forgotten. Thanks so much for preserving and sharing these!

  3. For us music lovers, radio has always been more important than TV. I always
lamented that we can watch old episodes of I Love Lucy on YouTube or Hulu but
our favorite old radio programs are lost forever. Then I found your recordings.
    Thanks a lot. It's a great service.

  4. You're welcome, and I am so happy you appreciate them for what they are. Spread the word, so that my download links stay fresh -- they expire 30 days from the last download.

  5. My cassette of the 1991 show got stolen out of my car back when people cared about cassettes. I thought I'd never hear that broadcast again. Thanks for sharing with everybody & for all the memories these shows bring back.

  6. John,
First off, I really have to commend you for your thoughtful foresight in archiving these WHFS broadcasts. A good friend of mine directed me to your blog and asked me if I knew how to download your WHFS Top 99.1 series. It seems like the links have expired. Is there any way I might get copies of these files? Really would mean a lot to me. Thanks, Scott Cool (the guy with the phony made-up radio name) scott_cool@sbcglobal.net

  7. John,
Thanks for making this blog! Any chance of re-uploading the files? The links are dead.
